Ergospect of Innsbruck, Austria, has started clinical trials with the Medical University of Innsbruck and C&C Innovations to design a device to simulate stress situations of the knee while imaging in the MRI bore.
During the exam, the ligamentous apparatus of the knee joint is forced to fulfill its function, replacing nonload imaging and allowing physicians to gain insights into the extent of knee injury, the most common injury in sports, Ergospect said.
The project is due to be shown as a work-in-progress at the 2015 International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine annual meeting (ISMRM 2015), to be held next week in Toronto.
