The executive committee of the International Society of Radiology (ISR) has revealed it will conduct a review next year on how best to proceed with its vision, mission, and role in the future.
In a letter to members, Dr. James Borgstede, the new ISR president, wrote that he welcomes "the opinions of all of our member states and regional society members to assist the ISR in defining its role in the future."
He also noted that ISR will continue to coordinate international efforts between member societies and other international organizations, such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and World Health Organization (WHO).
"Our goals are to provide a forum in which member organizations can discuss issues of relevance to radiology worldwide and to coordinate the organization of regional meetings worldwide, especially in developing countries," he added.
That goal of mutual cooperation was evident in September, when the International Congress of Radiology (ICR) coordinated meetings between ISR and the Egyptian Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
Also on the future agenda is the ISR working with the Sociedad Argentina de Radiologia to host the 2016 ICR in Buenos Aries.
