Imricor Medical Systems is highlighting a study investigating the use of MR-enabled cardiac ablation to treat atrial flutter.
U.K. researchers have completed the first three cardiac ablation procedures in the first clinical study of its type, according to Imricor. The pilot study will enroll up to 15 patients at Guy's and St. Thomas' National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust in London and will use Imricor's Vision-MR ablation catheter and its Advantage-MR electrophysiology (EP) recorder/stimulator system. Both devices are used in conjunction with Philips Healthcare's iSuite image guidance platform, Imricor said.
The devices make x-rays unnecessary and allow users to see detailed heart anatomy in real-time, according to the firm.
