The Rare Cancers Europe initiative has released a consensus statement on improving the pathologic diagnosis of rare cancers.
The statement, which was the result of a two-day workshop, aims to help rare cancer patients get a timely and accurate diagnosis, according to the organization. Rare Cancers Europe presented the statement together with the European Society for Medical Oncology and the European Society of Pathology in Brussels.
Rare Cancers Europe also called on industry representatives to prioritize the development of medicines for these diseases and will hold another workshop in October to address the methodological barriers to rare cancer care.
