PACS firm Sectra is highlighting research from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm that shows how the company's Sectra OneScreen online service offers an efficient and inexpensive method for early identification of people at risk for osteoporosis.
Published in European Radiology, the study found that Sectra OneScreen is equivalent to dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), the gold standard for predicting hip fractures. Sectra OneScreen can be combined with mammograms by taking a hand x-ray at the same time as breast images using the same radiology equipment, according to the company.
