AdHopHTA, a new health technology assessment (HTA) project focusing on hospital-based evaluations, has received funding within the Seventh Framework Programme of European Union research grants, MedTech Europe has reported.
The objectives of the project are to strengthen the use of HTAs in hospital settings to enforce their impact and to create a network/ecosystem where cooperation among existing HTA hospital-based initiatives is enabled and fostered.
By 2015, participants in the project are expected to have developed best-practice guidelines for hospital-based HTAs and a toolkit to facilitate them, as well as a database for hospital-based evaluations that is compatible with EUnetHTA databases. EUnetHTA is a group of 34 government appointed organizations that work together to help develop reliable, timely, and transferable information to contribute to HTAs in European countries.
The Fundació Clínic per a la Recerca Biomèdica in Spain will coordinate the project with nine other research partners in Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, and Turkey.
