Best Cyclotron Systems and Best Theratronics announced that they plan to add a new cyclotron to their product lines. The two firms are part of a group of companies called TeamBest.
B28 is a 28-MeV negative hydrogen ion cyclotron that has extraction energies of 28 MeV and 20 MeV. The beam current is 400 microamperes, according to the firms. The new system can be used with the company's other cyclotrons or other suppliers' devices to produce enough technetium-99m to meet the clinical needs of large urban centers, the companies said.
Best Cyclotron Systems and Best Theratronics plan to begin producing the B28 cyclotron in the next quarter and will make it available for sale during summer 2013, according to the firms.
