Identification and e-document solution company Morpho of Flintbek, Germany, has received official approval to produce Germany's new electronic health card.
Morpho reported that its approval was confirmed by the German association for telematics applications for the e-health card, Gesellschaft für Telematikanwendungen der Gesundheitskarte.
One-third of all persons insured by Germany's statutory health insurance program will receive a Morpho-manufactured card, according to the company. The cards will begin to be distributed starting 1 October 2011, and approximately 10% of all insured individuals are expected to have received the card by 1 January 2012.
