Radiopharmaceutical developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) has signed a contract with Skandionkliniken to install IBA's proton therapy cancer treatment system.
IBA's contract with Skandionkliniken calls for the installation of two patient treatment rooms and one research room. The contract is valued between 50 million to 60 million euros ($70 million to $84 million U.S.), which includes a five-year service agreement.
The first patients are expected to be treated with protons in 2015. When fully operational, approximately 1,000 patients will be treated each year at Skandionkliniken.
