PACS to drive DR growth in Europe

Thanks to a recovering economy and renewed availability of capital to potential buyers, the European digital x-ray market is expected to gain momentum again in 2011, particularly in the digital radiography (DR) segment, according to market research firm Frost & Sullivan.

Lower PACS prices are an impetus for the growth of DR in Europe, which is expected to grow from $68 million in revenues in 2009 to reach $111.2 million in 2016, according to the San Antonio-based firm. The European computed radiography market produced revenues of $228 million in 2009 and is slated to reach $237.4 million in 2016.

Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the U.K., the Benelux counties, and Scandinavia are covered in the report.
