Aspect Magnet Technologies and Mediso Medical Imaging Systems are collaborating to develop a system that combines PET and MRI, the companies said.
The new system will allow preclinical researchers to capture PET and MRI images without repositioning the animal subject. It will feature Netanya, Israel-based Aspect's magnet technology that allows its compact MRI unit to be sited without conventional external shielding, according to Aspect. The system will also feature Budapest, Hungary-based Mediso's SPECT and PET imaging technology.
Aspect and Mediso expect the first systems to be available next year. The new unit will be sold by Mediso, through its distributors.
