One-time charges on two projects will lead to a 2009 loss for radiopharmaceutical firm Ion Beam Applications (IBA) of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
IBA announced that it as has "considerably increased" its research and development investment in recent years and found that it "probably cannot avoid significant cost overruns on completion of two of these projects."
The net result could be charges totaling 10 million to 15 million euros ($15 million to $22.5 million U.S.), negatively affecting the company's final numbers for operating profit and resulting in a net loss for 2009, IBA said.
