(Booth 9139) Paramed Medical Systems of Genoa, Italy, will tout its recently cleared MRopen 0.5-tesla scanner, a cryogen-free, superconductive MRI system.
In May 2008, Paramed received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for the system, which features wire material made of magnesium diboride (MgB2), an alloy with superconductive characteristics at temperatures that can be reached with a traditional cooling system.
MRopen does not require liquid helium or other cryogenic gases, and is configured in a U-shaped design for patient comfort.
