Lantheus Medical Imaging this week received an additional supply of molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) for its TechneLite technetium-99m generator.
The shipment for the North Billerica, MA, company comes due to its supply agreement with the Institute for Radioelements (IRE) in Fleurus, Belgium, and the Nuclear Research Institute Rez (NRI-Rez) in the Czech Republic.
Lantheus earlier this year received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use of Mo-99 produced from IRE and NRI-Rez. The shipment arrived earlier this week and Lantheus already has distributed it in the U.S.
Don Kiepert, president and CEO of Lantheus, said the company has been working closely with IRE, NRI-Rez, and the FDA to bring Mo-99 to the U.S. and load its TechneLite generators within 24 hours after receiving the isotope.
