Varian wins CE Mark for proton therapy system

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, has received the European CE Mark for its proton therapy system, the company said.

Through research and development and the acquisition of Accel Instruments in Germany during 2007, Varian has developed its proton therapy system using technology for particle beam generation, treatment planning, imaging, motion management, and information management technology, according to the vendor.
