The European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) has released new guidelines for PET scanning in oncology radiation therapy.
The guidelines, published in Radiotherapy and Oncology, are designed to clarify the most appropriate applications for PET in radiation therapy planning.
Both the clinical data and editorial commentary outlined in the guidelines detail the most appropriate uses for PET in radiation therapy planning across tumor types, including esophageal, lung, head and neck, brain, prostate, and anal canal tumors.
The parameters also provide information to physicians on patient setup, acquisition protocols, and image reconstruction for better decision-making in patient cases.
