Sectra debuts orthopedic PACS upgrade

Swedish PACS vendor Sectra will debut a new version of its PACS software for orthopedics at the upcoming American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) meeting in Las Vegas, according to the Linköping-based company.

The system includes Sectra's RapidConnect technology, which helps remote clinics address challenges associated with reduced bandwidth. It also features compression algorithms and streaming technologies, client-server protocols, and data reduction to ease workflow in the orthopedic environment.

The new technology increases precision in choosing templates in the preoperative planning phase of orthopedic surgery for all specialties, including hips, knees, spine, sports medicine, and complex trauma cases, according to Sectra.
