French cancer study uses Toshiba ultrasound

Institut Gustave Roussy cancer center in Villejuif, France, is using ultrasound technology from Toshiba Medical Systems of Tokyo to evaluate the efficacy of targeted treatments in cancer patients.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) imaging technologies developed by Toshiba and its Aplio XG ultrasound system will be used to demonstrate the feasibility of DCE-US in general hospitals in France and to evaluate its efficacy to guide and optimize cancer therapy.

The multicenter study includes 19 clinical sites in France, which will monitor some 650 patients with primary liver cancer and metastatic tumors from various other primary cancers, such as breast, skin, kidney, and colon cancer.
