CT is not currently required for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) diagnosis, but this position may change and the role of CT may currently be underestimated, the British Society of Thoracic Imaging (BSTI) said in a statement released on 6 March.
It is imperative for radiology departments to have standard operating procedures prepared to minimize risks to staff and patients, as the presence of COVID-19 is likely to increase, according to BSTI.
The society plans to launch an online database on U.K. Cloud to which hospitals can upload COVID-19 imaging data that will be anonymized with fully encrypted connections.
