COCIR, MedTech Europe confirm support for EU regulation

COCIR -- the European Trade Association representing the medical imaging, radiotherapy, health information and communication technologies (ICT), and electromedical industries -- and MedTech Europe have announced their support for the European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation. They have emphasized its design to enable secure, interoperable, and efficient health data exchange across the EU.

In partnership with the XpanDH project, the two groups have affirmed their commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the EHDS by addressing key challenges. These include challenges related to the regulation's broad definition of electronic health record systems.

COCIR has published a position paper that addresses three topics. These include the need for use-case-driven guidance for interpreting requirements across digital health product categories, scaling testing frameworks for EHDS interoperability, and ensuring the separation of exchanged content and transport transactions within a simplified interoperability architecture.
