Following the removal of a controversial rule in the 2026 Social Security Financing Bill, the French National Federation of Medical Radiologists (FNMR) is calling for a review of the government's 2025 to 2027 imaging plan.
The FNMR welcomes the removal of Article 24 from the 2026 Social Security Financing Bill, recently passed by the National Assembly. The rule sought to impose unilateral decisions on private practice medicine.
The FNMR said this rule would have disregarded the contractual spirit that governs the relationship between healthcare professionals and the National Health Insurance. The FNMR led a national strike on 10 November, which was supported by about 80% of private practice radiologists.
However, the FNMR has concerns about Article 26, with subarticles granting the Director General of the CNAM (National Health Insurance Fund) the power to unilaterally determine the reimbursement rates for certain procedures.
The FNMR now expects a review of the 2025 to 2027 imaging plan, which is based on unilateral decisions imposed by the health insurance system. It has presented a 2025 to 2027 strategic plan that it says would generate up to €300 million in savings while preserving the quality of access to care for patients.
