The European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) plans to launch a European Union-funded project called AI-POD that will seek to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease among obese individuals.
The four-year initiative will include radiologists and computational imaging research and industry experts who will develop an imaging-based artificial intelligence risk score, clinical decision-support system, and mobile app to assess risk of obesity-related cardiovascular disease. It will be led by Dr. Prof. Ulrike Attenberger of the University of Bonn in Germany and will be conducted at six clinical sites, EIBIR said.
