The Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (SERAM) said it condemns and denounces the deliberate attack on health infrastructure and the use of hunger and violence against civilians in Gaza, Palestine, as weapons of war.
“The Spanish Society of Medical Radiology, consistent with its commitment to health, human dignity, and professional ethics, cannot remain silent in the face of documented evidence of the humanitarian disaster experienced by the civilian population in Gaza,” SERAM said in a statement.
SERAM said that silence in the face of injustice also constitutes a form of violence and that the medical and scientific community has an ethical obligation to speak out when the universal right to health and life is systematically violated.
In addition, the society expressed its solidarity with healthcare professionals working in extreme conditions and with all victims of the conflict and joined the international community's call to respect the right to healthcare, protect the civilian population, and guarantee access to basic resources.
