Canon unveils first global reference site for angio-CT suite

Canon Medical Systems has announced a reference site in France for its two CT systems that, when combined, form a flexible angio-CT interventional radiology suite.

The inaugural suite at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) of Montpellier in France will combine the Alphenix 4D CT and the Aquilion One Insight Edition CT scanner.

Aquilion One Insight Edition 160 introduces a modular approach to CT imaging and reduces the need for a full system replacement, according to Canon. The system was introduced in Europe on 9 September at Röntgenveckan 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden.

Alphenix 4D CT combines the Alphenix 4D CT system for "high-precision angiography" with the Aquilion One Insight Edition CT scanner for "ultrafast volumetric imaging." Canon highlighted a symposium, “New Fields and First Insights: Expanding IR with Alphenix 4D CT," held on 14 September at the annual congress of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE 2025).

The setup enables optimized patient care, with fewer transfers, enhanced precision, and significant dose reductions for both patients and medical teams, Canon said.

Centre Hospitalier Universitaire serves more than 270,000 patients each year, the company noted. The Saint-Eloi Interventional Radiology Department at St-Eloi University Hospital is led by diagnostic and interventional radiologist, Prof. Boris Guiu.
