A group of 12 enthusiastic young researchers from the Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen Junior Academy have presented their project work at a public event held at the spiritual home of radiology earlier in June.
In the Minoritensaal of the monastery church in Remscheid-Lennep, Germany, the young academics shared their knowledge with an audience. One of the contributions, for example, included a podcast presentation titled, "Science(s) alive." Here, the avatar of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen learned from a young scientist how x-rays can be used to research the structure of crystals.
The participants received their certificates personally from W.C. Röntgen (played by the actor Franz Mestre) after their presentations. The program was accompanied by musical contributions from the Remscheid Music and Art School.
At the reception that followed in the German Röntgen Museum, the young researchers had personal conversations with the visitors. Works of art that were created using thermal radiation, ultraviolet radiation, and x-rays were presented, as were self-grown crystals, seeds for wild bees, and a special poem about DNA.
The German Röntgen Museum will form an alumni group for the young researchers, which will allow them to delve deeper into the museum's topics. After the summer holidays, a program with workshops on various scientific topics is also planned, which can be booked by all Remscheid students in grades four to seven.
