RCR releases pediatric trauma radiology guidance

The U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has released a guidance document on pediatric trauma radiology that is available for free download.

The document is intended to support decision-making between clinicians and radiologists about imaging pediatric patients with major trauma and covers blunt trauma, penetrating trauma, and blast injury.

"Where there is a perceived discrepancy, this pediatric document should take precedence for patients under 16 years of age," the RCR noted. "Each young person needs to be assessed clinically on a case-by-case basis."

This guidance replaces the RCR's Paediatric Trauma Protocols, it said.
