German radiological societies are developing the radiologie-finden.de portal to enable referring physicians and patients to find certified radiology specialists.
The German Roentgen Society (DRG), the German Society for Neuroradiology (DGNR), and the German Society for Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Therapy (DeGIR) are promoting their collective range of additional qualifications that provide specialist knowledge and practical experience in the diagnosis of heart, prostate, muscle, and joint diseases as well as in the minimally invasive therapy of vascular diseases, cancer, strokes, and neurovascular diseases.
Prof. Dr. Michael Uder, Chairman of the Academy for Further Education and Training in Radiology, said that radiology must make more efforts than other disciplines to continuously make new knowledge the subject of further training and to integrate it into clinical practice. This included taking part in special training events and undergoing self-performed examinations or minimally invasive procedures.
The radiologie-finden.de portal enables patients and referring physicians to search specifically for radiologists who specialize in one or more radiological subfields and can prove this by means of a corresponding certificate, he stated. In the future, interested parties will also find information on the portal that explores the diverse range of radiological services.
