A staff member at an unnamed medical imaging facility in Singapore was sentenced on 2 June to eight weeks in jail for taking money from people for face masks that she did not supply to them, according to a news report in the Straits Times.
Eunice Anico Liwanag, 24, pleaded guilty to one count of lodging a false police report and three counts of cheating. She admitted deceit involving three people who bought 405 Singapore dollars (258 euros) worth of masks from her on the consumer marketplace Carousell but were never received. She was also accused of cheating 23 people out of 1,500 Singapore dollars (956 euros).
Liwanag tried to cover her tracks by filing an electronic police report, stating that she saw unusual money transfers into her bank account, according to the article.
Also, she must pay a 3,000-Singapore-dollar (1,912-euro) fine.
