Swiss imaging service and parts provider Medical Equipment Solutions and Applications (MESA) and Asteral have agreed to combine their operations in a merger backed by the international private equity firm Permira.
Asteral helps hospitals plan, procure, and manage medical equipment, according to MESA.
The new company will be led by Robert Piconi, MESA's executive chairman and founder. The venture will combine MESA's Europe-wide expertise in medical imaging equipment service with Asteral's strong U.K. customer base, MESA said.
