Front-page and community inline banner ads
Front-page inline ads and digital community inline ads are intermixed with stories. They should be more informational and text-based, with minimal or no graphics. Graphics may not be animated. A typical graphic would be a company logo or product image. To distinguish inline ads from regular Web site content, a soft "ADVERTISEMENT" tag will be placed above the advertisement.
Suggestions for successful inline ads
Consider your intent in placing an inline ad and the appearance of the section surrounding the placement of your ad. Inline ads appear in between the regular content (primarily news articles) section in the center column area of the page. Viewers browsing through the section of the site are often looking for industry news and information. Items that appear newsy and informative, though they might seem to have less "pizzazz" than a traditional banner ad, may draw the attention of these viewers.
The inline ad will be formatted in the same style as other articles. With our Web site stylesheet, you can expect the ad to display approximately 6 lines of text, or 350 characters (including spaces). See the image below for inline ad positioning.
