GE Healthcare has added Vscan Extend to its portfolio of portable ultrasound systems.
Featuring a touchscreen interface and a weight of 406 grams, Vscan Extend can integrate via the DICOM standard with a hospital's PACS network to complement existing documentation and reporting software, according to the vendor. In addition, Vscan Extend is the first GE ultrasound system to have access to the GE Marketplace, which offers applications that can assess heart failure patients, measure bladder volume, and facilitate cloud-based storage and communication of images.
The scanner also utilizes data security standards to provide data encryption, GE said. Vscan Extend is now shipping in Europe and is scheduled to be available in the U.S. by the end of January.
