Image-guided therapy firm Brainlab's Elements SmartBrush Angio software has been used clinically for the first time to correlate a patient's diagnostic datasets with temporal and spatial information.
The patient was treated at St. Luke's Radiation Oncology Centre at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where clinicians used the software to differentiate the nidus of a cranial arteriovenous malformation (AVM) from related arteries and veins.
Elements SmartBrush Angio was used to plan and deliver radiosurgery treatment on a 30-year-old man who was experiencing seizures due to a mesial temporal AVM involving the hippocampus and abutting the midbrain.
