The European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) has posted a video interview with Dr. Sophie Wooldrik, from Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, who won the society's 2024 Young Physician Scientist Grant.
The society awarded Wooldrik for her work with thermal ablation techniques. In an Instagram interview posted by EUSOBI, Wooldrik shared details from her work, which includes a trial comparing minimally invasive treatments. The trial also examined patient satisfaction, cosmetic outcomes, and feasibility in outpatient settings.
Wooldrik said that cryoablation had the highest treatment success rate at 94%. With this result in mind, she and colleagues are planning a phase III trial that aims to compare the performances of cryoablation and breast-conserving surgery.
