GE launches 3D printing center in Europe

GE Healthcare has opened its first European 3D printing and design center in Uppsala, Sweden.

Called the Innovative Design and Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center for Europe, the center will apply technologies such as 3D printing and other techniques in order to speed up innovation and simplify complex manufacturing processes, according to the vendor. Traditional machining equipment will be combined with new manufacturing technology such as metal and polymer printers as well as collaborative robots, GE said.

Teams will design, test, and produce 3D-printed parts for GE Healthcare products and prepare for final transfer to manufacturing, according to the company. They will also collaborate with teams at GE's U.S. advanced manufacturing and engineering center in Wisconsin.
