Advanced image analysis firm QUIBIM has secured a seed funding round of 550,000 euros to improve its medical image analysis platform and develop its marketing and sales strategy.
The Valencia, Spain-based biotechnology firm said the funds came from several sources, including Tech Transfer UPV, AYCE Capital, and BioInfoGate, as well as some company promoters.
QUIBIM said it is the first company in Spain to close a funding round with a technology transfer fund associated with a public university, Tech Transfer UPV, which exists for the purpose of creating and consolidating companies with high growth potential in research.
The money will be used to enable QUIBIM to accelerate and commercialize its medical image processing product for hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry, fueling its national consolidation and international expansion, the firm said.
QUIBIM (an acronym for Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers in Medicine) is a spin-off of the Institute of Health Research La Fe, founded in 2012 and promoted by Angel Alberich-Bayarri, PhD, and Dr. Luis Martí-Bonmatí following years of research as a team.
The company is focused on the extraction of quantitative information from medical images in radiology and nuclear medicine through advanced computer processing techniques.
