Siemens unveils new Soarian module at conhIT 2014

Siemens Healthcare is showcasing a critical care module for its Soarian hospital information system (HIS) at this week's Connecting Healthcare IT (conhIT 2014) conference in Berlin.

The Critical Care module, which is already available in numerous countries, enables data from intensive care monitoring devices to feed automatically into the patient's digital chart, according to the vendor. Critical Care is integrated into Soarian, enabling information from intensive care to be viewed by authorized staff in the recovery or regular wards from their usual HIS user interface, Siemens said.

In addition, Siemens said the module is designed for comprehensive connection to medical devices in the hospital and can be used outside the ICU. Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam and University Medical Center Groningen have already signed on to use the module, according to the firm.

Siemens said the Critical Care module is an example of its Unified Information Management concept, which manages information in a range of formats and from a range of sources and makes it available across all institutions and sectors.
