Increased order bookings in its Medical Systems business in the U.S. and Northern Europe contributed to a strong fourth fiscal quarter for PACS developer Sectra.
For the period (end-30 April), the company had net sales of 238.5 million Swedish kronor (26 million euros, $33.4 million U.S.), up 20.9% from the 197.3 million kronor (21.8 million euros, $27.6 million) reported a year ago. Including discontinued operations, Sectra posted a profit of 36.8 million kronor (4 million euros, $5.2 million), compared with a net loss of 1.9 million kronor (210,000 euros, $266,000) in the fourth quarter of 2010/2011.
Fourth-quarter order bookings totaled 188.2 million kronor (20 million euros, $26.4 million), up from 126.6 million kronor (14 million euros, $17.8 million) a year ago.
For the 2011/2012 fiscal year, Sectra had net sales of 823.1 million kronor (91 million euros, $115.3 million), including a nonrecurring item of 30 million kronor (3.3 million euros, $4.2 million) related to the divestment of its MicroDose digital mammography operations. In 2010/2011, Sectra had net sales of 783.7 million kronor (86.7 million euros, $109.8 million).
Including profit of discontinued operations of 293 million kronor (32.4 million euros, $41 million), Sectra posted 2011/2012 profit of 385.5 million kronor (42.6 million euros, $54 million). The company had a net loss of 9.6 million kronor (1 million euros, $1.3 million) a year ago.
