Week in Review: AI and cybersecurity risks | What's mammography's value? | New prostate study from Paris

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

When implementing radiology AI, what cybersecurity issues must be addressed? How can the risk of attack be reduced?

These questions are addressed in a comprehensive new article in European Radiology. Don't miss our exclusive report, which includes practical advice on the topic from our longstanding and ever-active editorial advisory board member Prof. Erik Ranschaert, PhD.

Reliable data about the cost-effectiveness of mammography are hard to come by, so analysis from Dublin is bound to prove appealing. The researchers' main aim was to provide clinicians with an evidence-based decision-making tool for assessing a symptomatic patient's need for imaging in the setting of a normal breast exam. Another study that caught our attention this week was led by Prof. Marc Sapoval, PhD, an interventional radiologist from Paris. In men with an enlarged prostate, his team found that prostate artery embolization often led to a positive outcome when it came to sexual function.

Meanwhile, authors from Bordeaux, France, have investigated whether synthetic CT images created using a generative adversarial network (GAN) algorithm to process short-echo MRI scans could serve as a viable alternative for imaging cystic fibrosis. They trained the GAN on paired MRI and CT sections and tested it with an external set of data. Get the full story in the CT Community.

ChatGPT, the AI language tool, continues to generate considerable interest. The latest study has come from the University of Cologne in Germany. What were the group's results? Find out in our news story.
