Diagnostic imaging, outpatient, and cancer care services provider Affidea and Netherlands-based artificial intelligence (AI) firm Aidence have joined forces for lung cancer diagnosis and screening.
Affidea is using Aidence's Veye Chest AI algorithm in a pilot in three countries: Italy, Greece, and Hungary, with the potential to expand to other countries as well. Veye Chest assists and supports radiologists by automatically detecting, classifying, and tracking the growth of pulmonary nodules.
The software identifies pulmonary nodules as small as 3 mm and analyzes roughly 300 images contained in a chest CT. The radiologist receives a 3D representation of the pulmonary nodules and the software provides insight into location, volume, and growth rate. Veye Chest has received the CE Mark and can be used as a second or concurrent reader.
