French unveil names of directors for AI group

France's national professional radiology council (G4) has announced the directorship for its new artificial intelligence (AI) medical imaging ecosystem DRIM France IA.

The directorship comprises a representative from each group in the G4: Dr. Bruno Silberman, president, supported by Drs. Jean-Paul Beregi, Pierre Champsaur, and Jean-Yves Gauvrit.

The project, announced during the recent national radiology congress, JFR 2018, aims to create and use imaging databases to develop programs and apps for patients and public health. When complete, this database will probably be the biggest in the world, according to G4, with up to around 100 million images produced by public and private radiology services each year.

DRIM France IA will allow industry giants and start-ups access to the database under the supervision of its scientific committee, according to a statement from the group. This will assist the development of research, training, evaluation, prevention, diagnostic, therapeutic, and patient follow-up applications, while an ethics committee will ensure adherence to rules governing the use of health data, it noted.
