Mirada introduces AI software for radiation oncology

Imaging software developer Mirada Medical has introduced DLCExpert, a software application based on artificial intelligence (AI) that provides automatic contouring of CT scans for radiation oncology applications.

Based on Mirada's deep learning contouring (DLC) technology, DLCExpert is designed to automate and improve the quality and consistency of the time-consuming clinical task of contouring CT images for treatment planning, according to the vendor. The software uses deep-learning models that have been trained -- using imaging data from prominent academic institutions -- to automatically generate structures for treatment planning, Mirada said.

DLCExpert has received regulatory approval and is currently pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance. It has been clinically validated by the Maastro Clinic in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
