EDAP TMS and Avenda Health have forged an agreement to launch what the companies call the world’s first AI-assisted robotic high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) procedures for prostate cancer care.
The HIFU procedures will use Avenda Health’s Unfold AI with EDAP's Focal One robotic HIFU platform to build 3D patient-specific cancer maps that reveal invisible tumor extent, allowing surgeons to avoid leaving cancerous tissue behind and to spare healthy surrounding tissue, Avenda said.
The companies said that by using Unfold AI with EDAP's Focal One robotic HIFU platform, urologists can provide a more tailored, patient-specific HIFU ablation procedure for their prostate cancer patients.
