Week in Review: Is breast MRI or CEM best? | Global PET/CT guidelines | News from U.K. tribunal

Dear AuntMinnieEurope Member,

Deciding whether to use MRI or contrast-enhanced mammography for a cancer diagnosis is one of the major dilemmas facing breast imaging specialists, but two European experts, Dr. Ritse Mann, PhD, and Dr. Valentina Longo, have now addressed this issue in an article published this week. Get the full details here.

New international guidelines have been unveiled on the optimum use of PET/CT in patients with invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. Significantly, this collaboration between the European Association of Nuclear Medicine and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging is supported by other societies.

The protracted tribunal involving musculoskeletal radiologist Dr. Prashant Sankaye has reached a conclusion. The investigation found that he failed to comply with several conditions put on his registration because of alleged sexual misconduct, but it ruled that his actions were not dishonest and lifted his suspension.

In other news, trampoline-related injuries among children are of growing concern due to the popularity of personal trampolines and recreational trampoline parks, according to Canadian researchers. They've shared their experiences in this field.

Finally, we have a story about a functional MRI study of men and women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder -- that is, "distressingly" low sexual desire. The authors hope their work will lead to more targeted and effective treatments and interventions.
