SPL Medical and NanoEcho plan to collaborate on developing the iron-based nanoparticle Ferrotran (ferumoxtran-10) for the detection of lymph node metastases on ultrasound.
The two firms have signed a letter of intent that SPL Medical will supply NanoEcho with Ferrotran, which the latter will then develop for market approval for detecting lymph node metastases in rectal cancer patients. Currently, Ferrotran is currently used mainly with MRI, the companies said.
