The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) has published guidelines covering best practices for safety testing of experimental radiofrequency (RF) hardware.
The guidelines and recommendations are intended to assist experts in MRI scanner hardware with obtaining local research ethics approvals for RF devices built at the research site. Such devices are typically used on research subjects and not on the general patient population. RF engineers and others with experience with electronics design, simulation, and construction will find the guidelines useful, the ISMRM said.
The document was written by a working group of twenty-six experts who are members of the ISMRM's Safety and Engineering Study Groups, and it is available at the ISMRM's website.
