A National Health Service (NHS) trust in northwest England has created a new position to increase the uptake of breast cancer screening in the local population.

Tracy Collard has been appointed cancer screening improvement lead for the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and will be engaged in activities to raise awareness in Bolton, Bury, and Rochdale of the importance of the NHS Breast Screening Programme. Only 29,977 women out of 40,926 in those three towns took up the invitation last year to be screened for breast cancer, according to a statement from the trust.

Collard will support general practitioner practices to increase uptake, as well as hold information stands and give talks in various community locations.
