Luminescence imaging technology developer Lightpoint Medical has been given a 1 million pound (1.37 million euros) development contract from the National Health Service (NHS) England.
Awarded via the NHS' Small Business Research Initiative for Healthcare (SBRI) program, the funds will finance the development of Lightpoint's EnLight handheld fiber-optic camera, according to the vendor. EnLight, which is designed to aid surgeons in tissue diagnosis during cancer surgery, is expected to be launched in 2016.
