It's only a matter of time before structured templates become the norm for radiology reporting, enthusiasts believe. Clinicians find these reports clearer and easier to read, and they boost communication by providing consistent information presented in a standardized format, improve report turnaround time, reduce associated costs, and simplify quality and compliance reporting, they said.
But how can you introduce structured reports? And what practical steps must be taken to realize the alleged benefits and productivity gains?
To answer these and other questions, AuntMinnieEurope.com asked two experts to take part in a video discussion at last week's UK Radiological Congress (UKRC) in Liverpool. Dr. Jan Bosmans, PhD, a staff radiologist at Ghent University Hospital in Belgium, and our healthcare informatics columnist Dr. Neelam Dugar, a consultant radiologist at Doncaster Royal Infirmary in the U.K. and former chair of the Royal College of Radiologists' Imaging Informatics Group, have strong opinions on this topic.
