The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has renewed its contract with Swedish radiation therapy firm Elekta for one year, with the option of three more years.
The contract includes the VA, the Department of Defense, and other federal agencies, and covers the Stockholm-based company's digital linear accelerators for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and 3D x-ray volume imaging for image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT).
In addition, Impac Medical Systems, a division of Elekta, received a contract from the VA for its oncology-specific healthcare IT technology, under the same contract terms.
