Philips to aid EU heart study

Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, will participate in a new research project funded by the European Union (EU) called euHeart, designed to improve the diagnosis, therapy planning, and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

The euHeart project will complement the recently announced HeartCycle project -- of which Philips also is a member -- to focus on the long-term management of chronic heart disease patients.

The euHeart consortium intends to develop advanced computer models of the human heart that can be personalized to patient-specific conditions using clinical data from various sources, such as CT and MRI scans, electrocardiograms, and measurements of blood flow and blood pressure in the coronary arteries.
